For the past three years, we’ve sourced coffee from Hector and his farm, Finca Las Brisas. Late last year, we took that commitment a step further, partnering with Cosecha Traders to help fund materials for new drying beds on his farm.

Finca Las Brisas came into Hector’s hands when his father divided his land equally among his sons, each receiving a single hectare to manage. Instead of replanting with newer varieties, Hector chose to preserve the Caturra and Común trees his father had planted 50 years earlier. His farm’s unique altitude and micro-climate have helped protect these trees from common threats like leaf rust and coffee borer, allowing him to continue producing exceptional coffee.

Hector’s path in specialty coffee began with a simple realization: the effort he put into his crop wasn’t reflected in the prices he received. He sought out training from local producer groups and, in 2001, formed a small association to strengthen opportunities for growers like himself. His breakthrough came when he entered his coffee into a competition and won—his first of many distinctions.

Today, Hector remains committed to refining his craft and pushing for a more sustainable future for small-scale coffee producers. We're proud to work with him and share his coffee with you.
