Colombia- Hector Quintero

We are delighted to bring back Hector Quintero's beautiful coffee.

His farm, Finca Las Brisas, was given to him when his father divided his farm equally among his sons. Each was given a hectare to manage. Hector's journey into the world of specialty coffee began with a deep reflection on how to make the most of the land he inherited. "I knew my coffee was really good, but the prices I received were too low for the amount of work I put into it," Hector says.

He attended training sessions organized by local producer groups, yet he chose to preserve the Caturra and Común trees his father had planted 50 years prior. Hector attributes the unique altitude and microclimate of his farm for protecting his crops from leaf rust and coffee borer.

Hector is a committed farmer with well-defined goals. In 2001, he established a small producer's association. His major breakthrough came when he entered his coffee in a contest and won, earning the first of many distinctions. This recognition motivated him to pursue his passion as a specialty coffee farmer.
